Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. Her catalog includes more than 20 albums. Her songs are classified by the label as alternative and folk. But, they incorporate elements of hip-hop music, jazz and punk. Ani diFranco was the first artist to establish her own label in the year 1990. Ani is widely considered to be a feminist icon. DiFranco's parents were Elizabeth (Ross), a previous student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each one another while each attending. Her mother is from Montreal and her father has Italian descent. Ani's song, 32 Flavors, was composed by her and sung by Ani. The song is featured on her album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. A version of the song is featured on the film Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apologized for hosting a workshop in Louisiana in an old plantation for slaves. The workshop was cancelled, yet she refused to express regret. DiFranco apologized for her mistake a couple of days later. Her name is associated with her Little Folksinger music, but she's worked with many different genres and artists that range from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. New Orleans is her home. Ani as well as Kristen Ford. In 14 years, she had begun creating her own music. They continued to be performed at coffee houses and bars throughout her teenage years.
