Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024He began his studies at the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. Apart from his appearance in The Killing's drama series and the film, he was also a part of Borgen III, a Danish drama series. He was also a key role in the BBC drama Sherlock as a the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV show House of Cards, he was the role of the president of Russia. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was shown in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride on the Storm.In addition to his native Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English, and he has mastered different accents. He stated that his brother and he began learning English through listening to and studying the Monty Python songs.
